Support for survivors of modern slavery

What is MSVCC support

In England and Wales, support for survivors of trafficking and modern slavery is provided through the Modern Slavery Victim Care Contract (MSVCC).

MSVCC support may include safe accommodation, financial support and outreach support to help meet a person's recovery needs and reduce the risk of further exploitation.

MSVCC support is not classed as a public fund for immigration purposes. This means support can be provided to a person with the no recourse to public funds (NRPF) condition.

A person who does not require safe accommodation may still be able to receive financial support and outreach support.

Financial support

Financial support is provided through two payments:

• the Essential Living Rate, which helps to meet day-to-day living costs
• the Recovery Rate, which helps a person to access support during their recovery

The current rates are:

• £49.18 per week for each person in the household
• £15.08 per week for a person living in full-board or catered MSVCC accommodation
• an additional £9.50 per week for a child under 1
• an additional £5.25 per week for a child aged 1 to 4
• a Recovery Rate of £26.84 per week provided to a person who has received a positive reasonable grounds decision to help meet recovery needs arising from their experiences of trafficking or modern slavery
