What support is provided

MSVCC support is provided in the form of safe accommodation and/or financial support. A person who does not require safe accommodation can receive financial support only, along with outreach services. Support is provided in two forms, payments to meet the Essential Living Rate and the Recovery Rate:

  • The Essential Living Rate is £49.18 per person per week. This is to help cover the costs of essential items likes food, clothing, and toiletries.
  • The Essential Living Rate For those who are living in full-board or catered MSVCC accommodation, is £15.30 is provided.
  • There are also additional payments for children under 4.
  • The Recovery Rate is £26.47 per week and is provided to a person to help meet any recovery needs, such as through access to health and wellbeing support.

If a person is already in Home Office or local authority support, then the MSVCC will generally not be required to provide accommodation if their current accommodation is deemed safe. If a person is being provided with accommodation by local authority social services such as under the Care Act 2014/Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act or Children Act 1989, then it may still be possible to access subsistence support from the MSVCC such as the Recovery Rate.
