Electric vehicle charging points

To improve air quality and reduce vehicle emissions, we are working with operators to provide more charging points for electric vehicles (EVs) in Islington.

There are over 490 on-street charging points in Islington.

    Charging networks in Islington

    • Source London operate mostly 7kW chargers. There is no maximum time limit but users are charged per minute of use.
    • BP Pulse operate 50kW chargers. Some are for taxis only. They take contactless card payment and there is a one-hour maximum time limit. 
    • Ubitricity operate lamppost charging points in Islington. You must comply with parking restrictions and ensure your cable is not a trip hazard or obstructing the footway. Stow excess cable under your vehicle or along the road against the curb.
    • ESB operate 50kW chargers. Some are for taxis only. They take contactless card payment and there is a one-hour maximum time limit. 

    If a charging point is not working, you must contact the network operator.

    You can also find charging points at supermarkets, petrol stations, hotels and office buildings.

    Charging safely at home

    If you have a charging point at home, do not run a cable from your property across the public footway. This is a safety hazard.
