If you smell gas, think you have a gas leak, or are worried that fumes containing carbon monoxide are escaping from a gas appliance, please call the free Gas Emergency Services hotline immediately on 0800 111 999.
You should also:
- open all doors and windows to ventilate the property
- make sure not to turn on/off any electrical switches
- extinguish all naked flames,
- stop smoking, and do not strike matches or any other way of making fire
- open doors manually where there are any electrical security entry phones or locks.
You will need to have the following information when you call the hotline to report a gas leak:
- your name and phone number
- address or location of the suspected gas escape or gas emergency
- number of people at the property
- where the smell is strongest
- how long the smell has been noticeable
- whether any neighbours are affected
- your name and phone number
- any special circumstances or access information.
