New generation scheme

The New Generation Scheme is for the sons and daughters of council, housing association and private sector tenants living in the borough.

The New Generation Scheme is for the adult children of council, housing association and private sector tenants living in the borough.

You can apply for a studio or one bedroom property if you are a single person or a couple, or for a two bedroom property if you have up to two children. You need to have lived in Islington for at least the last five years with your parents in either a social or private tenancy and be living in Islington on the date of your application.

Apply to the housing register

Once you have applied, you will be asked to provide proof of identity, in the form of a full birth certificate or passport and proof of address. To prove your address you must provide two documents from two different sources (for example, a gas bill and phone bill) for each of the last five years. These documents must show an address that is the same as the address you provide on the application form.

In exceptional circumstances applicants with a severe long term disability may qualify for the scheme even if their parents own their home.
