The combined use of the National and Local Validation Requirements provides both the authority and applicant with more certainty over the type of information required from the start of the process and helps to make sure that the information requested is proportionate to the type and scale of application being made.
In addition to the National Validation Requirements the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) sets out that Local Planning Authorities should publish a list of their information requirements for applications and that this should be reviewed on a frequent basis.
The Local Validation Requirements List has therefore been reviewed and updated to reflect new policies and guidance documents that have been adopted since the publication of the existing Local Validation Requirement List.
The council will consider all responses received to the document, but these should consider whether the proposed arrangements would ensure there is sufficient information to consider applications and are reasonable, proportionate and do not place an undue burden on applicants.
